Here we are on the eve of our first ESA of Missouri Annual Conference Sponsored by our first ever corporate sponsor, TriEd Distribution.
We couldn’t ask for better venue, The Tan-Tar-A Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks. Also a group of fantastic speakers in Merlin Guilbeau, Angela White and Ron Davis who will share their thoughts regarding the future of our industry and your companies.
I would like to invite everyone to take advantage of this once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to meet and learn from these industry leaders.
We will also be electing our ESA of Missouri Board of Directors for 2017/2018. This will be both a busy and enlightening weekend for members and non-members alike.
The leadership of Your ESA of Missouri, both current and nominee’s is a very diverse group of people. I hope you will take the time to meet and come to know them all.
John Butler and I were talking recently about starting small companies. He told me that there is nothing wrong with starting an alarm company out of the trunk of your car so long as it’s a cadillac! Over the past 25 plus years John has built a very successful company in St. Louis. He has also held every elected office in the AAGSL and ESA of MO at least once. For the past 12 years John has been our liaison with John Bardgett who is our Legislative Consultant and Lobbyist working with the Missouri State Legislature on our behalf. John probably still has his First Cadillac.
Nick Barrack began his company while in college using the experience he had gained working for Mossie Alarm in Kansas City in the late 60’s. He moved into electrical contracting a decade later in order to win commercial fire alarm business he had been losing to union electricians. In 1985 he opened the first wholesale alarm monitoring company in Missouri and still operates it today. He has served as our President or Treasurer for most of the last 25 years. He has also been one of our NTS Instructors for more years than he will care to admit.
Bryan Morris, our President Elect represents the second generation of his company. One of the core principals of his company is that “We Don’t Sell Alarm Systems, We Provide Life Safety System”. That philosophy was born with that company nearly 30 years ago. Having continued that philosophy over the years without compromise has made it one of the most respected companies in central Missouri. Bryan carries that legacy forward today.
Neil Atha, our nominee for Treasurer is Vice President for one of the largest and fastest growing privately held security companies in the midwest. Under his leadership his company has appeared on the SDM Top 100 List for the past 3 years running and is on pace once again for this year. Having been raised in this business I’m sure there were plenty of summers pulling wire. Neil brings youth, energy and amazing talent to our Board of Directors.
John Green, our nominee for Secretary is the Director of National Accounts for his dad’s (Greg) company. Greg and I started in this business at about the same time at the same company and that would be about 1990. Greg and I have been friends for 30 years and I remember when John was born. It is wonderful to see the man that John is and I look forward to watching him grow as the amazing leader I know he will become.
The agenda for the weekend begins with an informal Hospitality Reception at the Lakeside Cabin for early arrivers from 5-7 pm Friday evening Many of us will gather in the Black Bear Restaurant later that evening for dinner.
Saturday morning there will be a continental breakfast in the meeting room from 8:00 to 8:45 AM for your convenience. We have a full agenda for the meeting and it will begin at 9:00 AM sharp.
I am looking forward to seeing old friends, meeting new ones and prospective new members at this conference. We are expecting a packed house so be sure to get to the meeting room early. Bob Scales President ESA of Missouri From the President P
